Wide Crack

You walk into the wide crack. After it turns a few corners, you reach a dead end. There's a horrible creature here! It's indescribably ugly, and it cringes away from your light. This must be a grue! It's a good thing you brought your new lantern, or this thing would have found you long ago.

Its back is against the wall, and there's nothing more dangerous than a cornered animal. It lunges!

You have been eaten by a grue. You die!
